

CONTEMPORARY POP-UP CLASS WITH KE'ALA O'CONNELL

Ke'ala O'Connell is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Kailua, Hawai'i. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and minors in Arts Management and Communications. Ke'ala has performed the works of Peiju Chien-Pott, Katie Drablos, Dwight Rhoden, Robert Battle, Take Ueyama, and Spenser Theberge, among others. She has danced professionally in New York City since 2021 and most recently spent the 2023-2024 season performing and touring with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company.
Ke'ala has choreographed, produced, and directed her own dance films; "In the Meantime...", "Flip A Switch", and "Nothing Else Matters" to name a few. One of her films "embers to ash" was featured at the Wilddogs International Screendance Festival presented in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
As an educator, Ke'ala has experience teaching a variety of ages and levels at studios in Honolulu, Dallas, and New York City.
Her movement style combines strong technique with dynamic storytelling and an expressive movement quality. The joyful, welcoming class environment she creates allows every student to feel equally challenged and encouraged.
