The Aaron Family

Johann and Melissa are proud parents to 2 daughters, Reese (16) and Rayna (13) and a naughty chocolate lab named Zeke. They are an active duty Navy family who have lived in southern California; southern Spain; and have been stationed in Hawaii since 2014 when both daughters began dancing at PDD. Rayna, in beginning hula, and Reese in beginning ballet and beginning jazz. Rayna is a KPOP enthusiast and straight A - 8 th grader in student council at Pearl City Highlands Intermediate.

Reese continued at PDD trying out for and performing in Sr. Companies for Hip Hop and Contemporary last year and traveling to Nationals in Las Vegas. She is currently a Junior and Honors/ AP student at
Radford High School. She dances at PDD in the Sr. Hip Hop Company and will perform with the Elite Production as well during this year’s competition season.

As a military family with our biological family so far away, we are so thankful for the PDD Ohana. This studio is truly a home away from home for our daughter to not only train with talented teachers who love and embrace her for her who is, but also mentor her and provide opportunities to stretch her talents and shine. We’ve seen the growth and development of our daughter and many other dancers at the studio in the 5 years. We are truly blessed to be a part of this Team.

The Yoshida Family

Reid and Jodi are proud parents to 3 children. Brooke (14) is the baby of the family. She is an eight grader at Iolani School. While her brother Jake (19) is a freshman at Saint Martin's and Ryan (23) is a resident in Oregon.

Brooke started out with Beginning Ballet with Ms. Anri. Then gradually expanded her genres to Jazz with Ms. Alicia. She currently is a member of the Teen Senior Company for Ballet and Contemporary. Last year, she competed in Las Vegas at the Dance Awards. Through the love and support of the teachers, parents and dance sisters, she had the time of her life.

During this time of uncertainty, Ms. Wendy's commitment to finding a consistency for the dancers was creative and genius. We were worried Brooke would miss the laughter and smiles she gets with the five hours of dance at the studio. With the solution of Zoom, our house is still filled with laughter and joy as Brooke continues to dance with her wonderful teachers and fun spirited dance sisters.

Mahalo to PDD for their commitment to being creative and committed during these times of uncertainty - the laughter is such a great addition in our home.

The Fukumoto Family

Haley (12) is the daughter of proud parents Sarah Fukumoto and Ryan Connolly. They are known to have family dance offs during competitions.

When Haley started to dance competitively, Sarah left her job in research and public policy to spend more time with Haley and launch a dance lifestyle brand. Sarah is frequently found dancing (badly) on Haley’s Instagram. Haley’s dad, Ryan Connolly, is a small business owner, musician, and Boston native. Haley shares his love of music and pets. He also dances strangely.

Haley took her first ballet class with Ms. Annri at seven years old. She’s loved ballet since she started to walk, and finding Ms. Annri has been a dream come true. Since joining the Junior Ballet Company in 2017, Haley has been able to attend several local and national competitions. In 2019, she also joined the Junior Contemporary Company and has enjoyed the camaraderie and experience Ms. Chandler has created. This is her fifth year anniversary dancing with Pas de Deux Hawaii.

Advice to new families from Sarah and Haley: Take advantage of the master classes, workshops and any other opportunities that PDD is able to arrange. It’s hard to gain exposure to the dance community from Hawaii, and Ms. Wendy has done an amazing job of providing it.

Being a part of this community is a blast, so get involved!

The Ogoso Family

Stephen and Korie are proud parents to their beautiful and talented daughter Dacy (7). Dacy is an active loveable girl that just finished 2nd grade at Pearl City Highlands Elementary School. She enjoys and loves to dance and has been enrolled at Pas De Deux since the age of 3. She started in creative movement with Ms. Allicia and Hip-Hop Tots with Mr. Eric and loved it! Now, she is currently in Petite Company Ballet with Mrs. Emily and Ms. Jael, Petite Company Jazz with Ms. Allicia, and taking Beginning Hip Hop with Mrs. Jaemie.

During the years we have watched Dacy blossom and develop so many new dance movements and enjoyed every moment of it. We’ve also met so many new friends whom became family to us. This year has been challenging. With COVID-19 it was sad not to be able to go to the studio to dance with her sister and that the annual competitions had been cancelled. Pas De Deux did an excellent job on continuing the communication on Zoom classes so that all dancers could continue on with their love of dance, which brought a smile to our little one’s face. On her spare time, she enjoys baking, cooking, doing crafts and of course dancing. She is so inspired by her older dance sisters and hopes to be as good as them some day.

Thank you PDD for continuing on having a safe and loving family environment that our little dancer and other dancers can continue to achieve their creative goals.

The Almont-Doñe Family

Leila is 8 yrs old and just completed the second grade. She loves to sing, dance and act. We initially found PDD because of the musical theatre classes but found that Leila was too young to join. We decided to enroll her in jazz class in 2018 and now she is in her second season in Petite Company ballet and jazz and has been a part of the ensemble in her first thearte production of Frozen Jr.  When asked if she wants to continue dancing and acting she says "Yes, because I love being on stage." Leila’s goal is to dance on pointe and have a lead role in a play.

Leila loves all her teachers at Pas De Deux and has grown so much as a dancer. She looks up to all of her student mentors and watches them in awe when they perform. We have found a great friends in our Pas De Deux ohana and as parents we are blessed to see our daughter make friends and "fit in" with kids that share the same interests as her.

The Malone Family

Micah a 17-year old recent graduate at Hawaii Technology Academy, joined PDD in 2017. Following in the shadows of his older sister Mia, Micah began dancing hula and hip hop at 5 years old. He is known among the dance community as "All Stylz".  He does every genre of dance (Hula, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Tahitian and Tap).  When he is not dancing, he sings and acts with Musical Theater. While the pandemic hasn't stopped him, he has recently been taking Online Tahitian drumming.

Mia was also a former PDD Musical Theater student.  She recently graduated Magna Cume Laude.  Micah hopes to pursue a degree in Computer Science and Performing Arts.

We are so grateful to be a part of the PDD Ohana. PDD continues to provide top-notch teachers and a safe dance environment.

Aloha everyone, We are The Miller’s (no not the Miller’s from the movie) Jemar, Josliene, Hayley, Jalen & of course Thalia. Oh and how can I forget our two Boxers, Zeus Ikaika & GiGi. We are a fun loving, competitive and passionate family. We enjoy playing card games (speed, rich man/poor man, UNO), board games (Sequence, Sorry, Trouble) and watching movies. We the parents work for Bayada Behavioral Health, a company that services our special needs population across the state. The kiddos, Hayley works full-time as a dental assistant & a student at H.C.C. Jalen is a freshman at Erskine College in South Carolina and Thalia is a 6th grader at Kamehameha Kapalama. When we are together we are usually eating at the dinner table having a passionate conversation about the days happenings, at church, or playing a game so someone can have bragging rights for the night! Other than that we are a pretty easy going family, The Miller’s in a Nutshell.
