The Lagrimas Family
Aloha & Happy 2026 from the Lagrimas Family!
We are Eric, Cathy, Cadence, and Ethan, and we are so honored to be featured as Pas De Deux Hawaii’s January Family of the Month. For us, the performing arts isn't just a weekend activity—it is the heartbeat of our home.
Our family is deeply rooted in rhythm and melody. Both Eric and Cathy grew up with a strong upbringing in music, and were fortunate enough to turn those passions into fruitful careers in the arts. Because music is our "language," watching our children translate that sound into movement at PDD has been a beautiful experience.
Cadence (13) started her dance journey at age six with Pre Hip Hop. Over the years, her hard work and artistry have flourished, leading her to become a competitive multi-genre dancer in PDD’s Petite, Mini, Junior and now the Teen/Senior Company. Cadence is in the 8th grade and enjoys her math, science, ceramics, and culinary arts classes.
Ethan (8), following in his sister’s footsteps (literally!), started dancing at age four with Hip Hop Tots. He has quickly found his groove in the world of Hip Hop and Break Dancing and is currently a proud member of PDD’s newest Hip Hop Crew division. Ethan enjoys playing Roblox and also started to play the drums.
Cathy is a veteran educator with the Department of Education teaching Middle School Play Production and Theatre Craft. Her journey at PDD began behind the scenes as part of the Admin team in 2019, but soon after had the honor of becoming the Music Director in the Musical Theatre Program and the Vocal Director with the vocal department, helping students bridge the gap between storytelling and song.
Eric brings a wealth of industry expertise to the family dynamic. As a music producer and an Assistant Professor at the Music & Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE) Program at Honolulu Community College, he leads Hawaii’s only program in music business and audio engineering education. Together, Cathy and Eric have created a home environment where creativity is nurtured and technical excellence is celebrated.
Being a "dance family" comes with a busy schedule and a lot of heart. For our fellow families in dance, we’d like to offer these three pieces of advice: 1) Trust the Process - Much like learning a musical instrument, dance requires patience. Celebrate the small victories rather than just the final trophy. 2) Be Their Biggest Fan, Not Their Toughest Critic - Keep the focus on the fun and the friendships they are building. 3) Get Involved - Whether it’s volunteering or simply getting to know other parents, being part of the PDD community makes the experience richer for both you and your child.
Thank you to Wendy & Jeremy for their vision in creating this wonderful space. We feel blessed to be part of a studio that values the arts as much as we do.
