The Ohta Family
Aloha Pas De Deux families! The Ohta family (Ralph, Queena, Taylor, and Shayna) is deeply honored to be PDD's Family of the Month.
Our journey with PDD began many moons ago with our older daughter, Taylor. As a parent, I was looking for something to help her build confidence and overcome the fear of speaking in front of a large audience. When PDD was putting on a musical, we attended—and the rest, as they say, is history. Taylor spent four years dedicated to Musical Theater and has grown into a confident, funny, and musically talented young lady.
Our senior at Moanalua High School, Shayna, started ballet when she was three. She moved over to the PDD family when she was six and has been part of it ever since. Shayna is dedicated to ballet and jazz, and more recently, has taken on a role working at Step-N-Up. Through her years here, she has developed lifelong friendships with her "dance sisters" and deeply appreciates all of her teachers.
For new families venturing into this wonderful world, here is our simple advice: Get involved! As teachers ourselves, we know the importance and impact of parent involvement in a child's life. We highly recommend getting involved in some way—any amount of volunteer help is appreciated by the studio!
Wendy and Jeremy's vision for PDD is truly inclusive and innovative. There is something for everyone—whether you like to sing, dance, act, compete, or just enjoy the "warm fuzzy" of performing arts. This community truly feels like a supportive family that will champion you throughout your dance journey. In the spirit of giving thanks, the Ohta family would like to thank owners and masterminds, Wendy and Jeremy, the amazing teachers, and all of the wonderful and helpful behind the scenes team at PDD, Nina's Cafe, and Step-N-Up for making PDD our second home.
